Package 1: Volunteer Program and 1-Year Visa
Minimum duration: 4 weeks, 4 hrs/week (16hrs/month)
Maximum duration: 1 year, 4 hrs/week (16hrs/month)
What’s included?
- A volunteer placement which suits your needs and wishes as well as the local organizations'. We will liaise with you and the organizations, perform a needs assessment at the organization, develop a plan and time table for you.
- The assistance of our LI CMU volunteer program staff and a personal mentor to support you before and during your volunteer period.
- Local culture, customs and language orientation at the Language Institute
- Welcome packet complete with a map of Chiang Mai, teaching resources and a Thai language guide
- Full CMU campus privileges (including library and swimming pool)
- Introduction and transfer to your host organization
- At most organizations lunch will be included on working days
- Non-Immigrant “O” Visa support for the duration of your volunteer period
- Suitable housing assistance based on individual needs
- A letter of appreciation from your host organization
- Chiang Mai University Language Institute-certificate of volunteer hours completed

- Local transportation expenses
What can you expect to spend on accommodation, meals and transportation?
- Accommodation: Depending on personal preferences: between 100 and 200 US per month
- Meals: If you eat mainly Thai food about 100 USD per month, if you want some Thai and some western meals about 200 USD per month
- Transportation: about 60 USD per month depending on the distance between your accommodation and host organization
What are our requirements?
- Minimum age of 18 years old
- Speak English at a native or near-native level
