Beginner's Thai Language Program One

some examples of the Thai Alphabet The Language Institute Chiang Mai University has two unique conversational Thai language programs which aim to build confidence among non-native speakers of the language. We understand that studying the Thai language can be difficult for some, which is why we maintain 1:5 teacher to student ratio, to maximise a candidate’s in-class speaking time. The Beginners Conversational Thai Program (Beginners I) will focus on speaking core skills ONLY. Classes will run daily between 0900a.m to 1200p.m for a period of 3-weeks. Strict emphasis will be placed on pronunciation and intonations, and will focus on survival Thai vocabulary. Our carefully designed program will gently introduce the Thai language in a manner which is not stressful for our candidates, our goal: to teach Thai through a hands-on approach to learning.

In the Beginners I program, candidates can be expected to learn approximately 400-500 words of vocabulary, this will include: first time introductions, ordering food and drinks, transportation and going places, about the family, health, body and mind, days, months, numbers plus much more. This program is suitable for candidates travelling or taking a short vacation in Thailand, or perhaps if you are either a gap year student/volunteer and/or ESL teacher wishing to grasp the fundamental basics of the Thai Language.

The Thai language course instructor will utilize a variety of different teaching styles and techniques during the course. Learners will be expected to participate in group discussions, drilling exercises, role plays, paired work, listening to audio and multimedia material and well as individual work. Wherever possible, the Thai language instructor will try to introduce activities to help the learners develop their speaking and listening skill.
