  1. What is covered in the course?
      The course’s main focus is on achieving fluency in the Thai language. The course also covers all aspects of Thai culture. This includes, but is not limited to: Buddhism, History, Food, Art and Traditional Medicine
  2. How often do the courses begin?
      Our courses start at the beginning of each month. New courses also open up on demand for groups and heavily requested sections.
  3. What are the times and days of the classes?
      Currently we offer two choices. Weekend or Weekday evening classes. The actual course times and days are announced when a course has the minimum number of students.
  4. How much is the course fee?
      The total cost of the course is 30,000 Baht. This includes all material costs.
  5. Will we study reading and writing in Thai?
      Yes, the one year course includes reading and writing.
  6. Are the course materials included?
      Yes, all texts are included in the course.
  7. What is the first step that I need to take to get started?
      The first step is to fill out the student application and indicate your preferences. This can be requested by emailing us at Thaicourses@teflcmu.com
  8. When do I need to pay the course fee?
      The course fee needs to be paid before any paperwork can be processed.
  9. What is an ED visa?
      An ED visa is a Non-B Education visa that allows a visitor to Thailand to remain in the country while they are studying.
  10. Do I need an ED Visa to study?
      No, if you have another visa already, you may still enroll in the 1 year Thai course.
  11. What are the visa fees?
      The first visit to the Thai embassy or immigration will cost 1,900 Baht.

      Once the tuition has been paid, how long does it take to get the ED visa?
      After receiving your tuition, it takes about 5 to 10 days to process your paperwork if you are already in the country. At this point you are free to visit a Thai embassy. If you are outside the country, we require 5 to 10 days before mailing the papers. After that time you must wait to receive the papers and include the processing time inside your country.
  12. What if the Thai embassy rejects my visa?
      If the Thai embassy rejects your visa, we will provide a full refund minus a 1,000 Baht processing charge.
  13. Can I change a Non-B, Non-O or Tourist visa into an ED visa without leaving the country?
      Yes, if you have a Non-O or Non-B with more than 2 weeks left on the visa before expiry, then we have time to prepare your documents for the conversion of your visa. You may then proceed to the local immigration office in Chiang Mai or the Thai embassy in Bangkok.
      If you have a tourist visa, you may process this visa in the country only at the Thai embassy in Bangkok and only if you have more than 21 days left on your visa on the day you arrive at the embassy.
  14. Are there any age limits on the ED visa?
      Yes, you must be at least 12 years old. There are no upper age limits.
  15. Do I need to be able to speak English to take the course?
      Our course is designed to meet the needs of any non-native Thai speaker. For the general 1-year program, a basic level of English is helpful, but not necessary.
  16. Can you arrange private courses?
      Yes, the cost of a one year private class with ED visa is 110,000 Baht.
  17. Can I put my husband or wife on my ED visa?
      No, spouses are not allowed on the ED visa.
  18. Are the classes on the Chiang Mai University Campus?
      Yes, however private lessons may be taught at multiple locations.
