Phrao is a farming community in a mountain valley about one hour north of Chiang Mai. Recent meetings between Chiang Mai University's Volunteer Directors and the Village council have resulted in what may prove to be an astounding opportunity for volunteers from around the world.
Chiang Mai University is proud to present the first-of-its-kind lecture series on Thailand and Southeast Asian culture. The lectures are open to all and will cover a range of topics, including, society, history, art, film, literature, religion and more over the course of one year.

I came to Chiang Mai in June as a volunteer teacher with The Chiang Mai University Language Institute Volunteer Program. Now as the program finishes, I am congratulating myself again for finding the perfect way to spend my summer vacation.

It’s an old adage that the more you give in life, the more you receive. However, questions remain: what’s the best way to give? And what is it you’re keen to receive in return?
